5 Facial hair Removal Methods
There are a few facial hair removal
methods for women, but of these 5 alternatives are the ones you should choose from.
You should take a good look at yourself (figuratively speaking) and define your needs. If you have one sole hair
on your cheek, then pull it out.
If however you have more or perhaps want to delineate your eyebrows, think of the alternatives with a view of
their costs, the ease of use, how often you will need to repeat the exercise, and where they are.
One of the disadvantages of unwanted hair is that, quite simply it grows back at regular intervals. A lot of
women, and men for that matter, who practice regular hair removal want to find a permanent solution.
Most methods are temporary though some can be for a day or two, while others are longer lasting. Electrolysis is
the only hair removal method that the FDA has recognized as a permanent removal method.
Lasering hasn't quite reached that stage because more studies need to be registered so the FDA allows it to be
presented as a permanent hair reduction (not removal). In other countries lasering is allowed to be sold as a
permanent hair removal method.
There are 5 basic facial hair removal systems available,
and they are:
1. By Shaving. This is
not the usually or preferred method for women seeking facial hair removal, although for ease of use it is sometimes chosen.
The two options are with a wet razor or by using an electrical shaver. Both options are easily found over
the counter.
Many people think that shaving entices the hair to grow. For instance there are many young male teens that
start shaving all over their face with the hope that more hair will come out. But it doesn't happen. Shaving
cuts the hair that is there, that is all.
The act of shaving basically cuts the hair just above the skin - a smooth shave is barely over the skin.
This cut is made at an angle leaving the hair with an edge produced by the angle of the cut. This in turn makes
the hair pointed and therefore prickly.
2. Plucking. Simply put, this is
another word for pulling out the hair by the roots. It is very useful for individual hairs on the face but
gains in pain if the amount of hair is more.
- Using tweezers it is very easy to catch hold of the hair in question and then you simply pull it out going
against the direction of the growth. It is great for individual hairs or plucking eyebrows. As plucking brings
out the hair by the roots the regrowth will take longer than when shaving.
- A very old method that originated in the east, is threading. What happens is that you use a piece of
thread to catch the hairs (you twist the thread and with it the hair), and then pull them out. Some people may
find this more painful as it is used for groups of hair so it may be best to try it out with fewer hairs and
see how you respond to the pain.
3. The use of wax as a facial hair removal system
is a common alternative. Amongst its advantages are that is can be both for personal use or
be applied by a professional beautician. Hair regrowth is also slighter longer and as repeated applications can
damage the hair follicles it can even reduce it.
4. Laser. This method is more costly and has to applied by a qualified professional.
The lasering process shoots a beam of light at the area where the hair is located. This beam of light
penetrates the hair follicle and which is them burnt and disabled. For facial hair removal you must be very
careful your eyes are covered and safe from the light beam. Lasering is a permanent hair reduction method and
not to be confused with a permanent hair removal method.
5. Electrolysis. This is the use of
an electric current which is applied to individual hairs. A needle is placed onto the hair follicle, the
electric current is then fed through and the follicle destroyed. As each hair has to be treated individually it
does demand longer sessions but the results are permanent.
