Head Shaving Trend

Head Shaving- A Modern Trend

A few years ago it was quite unusual to see shaven heads. Whenever I heard the phrase "head shaving" I immediately thought of Yul Brynner.

Today most people probably never heard of him. However what impressed me was the strength of character and purpose his appearance gave out.

I also remember seeing him in one of his earlier films with hair on his head and that strength wasn't there.

Today we live in a different world and we see many men and some women who have shaved their heads.

When this trend started (during the eighties) the impression most people got when seeing someone with their head shaved, was one of aggression. In fact this became a symbol - remember the skin heads and later the punks?

Now a days it is quite usual to see people, specially men, who have shaved their heads. Some have a completely shaven head, others partially - as they have perhaps groomed stray hairs over a balding spot.

It certainly looks much better than some of the more futile attempts to cover baldness by wrapping round the head a few extra long hairs.

A lot of men who shave their heads have done so as a direct response to increasing baldness.

This direct response also has an interesting side effect, which is the feeling of freedom a man experiences once he has shaved his balding head. All of a sudden, from one moment to the next, he has taken a load of his chest (head) and being bald is no longer a problem.

A shaven head demands continuos grooming in the form of of a daily shave, or at least within short intervals. The most widely used method is shaving.

When looking at the two shaving alternatives we find:

Shaving with a razor:

- a significant area has to be shaved unseen

- it is not advisable to shave over dry hair and skin

- there is a risk of abrasions and cuts

- you require foam

Shaving with an electric shaver:

- the unseen areas can easily be shaved by touch and without risk of cuts

- the shave should be done on dry hair. Definitely not damp or wet

- you can go repeat going over the same spot without causing damage

- you can do it whenever and wherever you like.

The other hair removal methods have clearly nothing to do with your hair on your head, so I will pass on them.

In view of the simple comparison above, and following this trend of thought, if you are already shaving your head or thinking about it, I would definitely recommend using an electric shaver.
