Tweezing, Plucking,
Threading
Tweezing is an excellent hair removal method
alternative for certain body areas where women practice hair removal such as eyebrows, chin and cheeks that
are usually populated with few hairs.
In these cases the best hair removal methods are through plucking by using a pair of tweezers.
There are different types of tweezers available, including the small ones that come with Swiss knives (I only
mention that because it is what I use).
Tweezing and Plucking Tips
Plucking and tweezing is a simple process, and we have probably plucked a stray hair at one time or another,
even if it is a result of playful tugging. (So it is not a complicated science).
Tweezing and hair plucking is not recommended for large areas for obvious reasons. It will take too long, it
will be frustrating as there will always be another stray hair that needs to be plucked, and finally because of the
pain involved.
One of its advantages is that the cost for a pair of tweezers is low. As it is used to remove stray hairs, it is
usually done while grooming in front of the mirror and the time spent is over very quickly.
For best results you can moisten the area with warm or hot water as this softens the skin making the hair
plucking easier and less painful.
Many people recommend pulling the hair in the direction of the hair growth. I have found it works better for me
when pulling against the direction of the hair growth. This may be because of a better hair grip, or that I tweeze
after a hot shower and the skin pores have opened. Whatever the reason, it works for me.
Use a mirror and with good lighting.
Stretching the skin (for cheeks, typically push outwards with your tongue) as this allows for a good grip and is
easier and lees painful.
After tweezing hair will regrow, but in a longer period of time which can be between 1 and 3 weeks.
Threading Hair Removal
Threading hair removal is a type of hair plucking method, especially good for facial hair (eyebrow threading for
example), that pulls out the hair by the roots. Instead of picking out and removing hair by hair you can remove
groups of hair at a time.
Although it has been around for ages (threading eyebrows originates in India) it has now become popular in
Europe and America.
The thread hair remover process is becoming an interesting alternative in various parts of the world.
Hair removal is something women have to deal with. And, fortunately the job is less complicated as new
techniques are appearing, so much so that even sugar is used for those who have sensitive skin.
One of these new techniques is hair removal with thread, which is used in various parts of the world
successfully.
It is a modern technique but inspired by Eastern traditions and can be applied to both men and women.
Besides the classic wax, one of the key areas for threading hair removal is with facial hair. That's where this
technique is brilliant as it allows you to shape your eyebrows, remove unsightly facial hair and, in general,
assist with skin care.
Among its benefits you will find:
- That it does not cause irritation or rashes.
- It is much more precise than wax and the effects last longer and is less painful than tweezers.
In simple terms a cotton thread is entwined round the unwanted hair by twisting the thread which is then pulled
off, removing the hair from the follicle, from below the skin. This also means that hair regrowth will take longer
and additionally with repetition the hair will grow weaker.
As no additional substances (wax, chemicals, etc.) is applied risks of rashes, burns, and allergies are
eliminated.
Finally, it is a very precise method and fast.
For first timers perhaps your best option is finding threading hair removal salons where you will be at the
hands of an expert - with excellent eyebrow shaping experience.
For home threading there are threading machine hair removal options available.
